Molinara Shawl

Molinara Shawl — € () or Molinara is a little minimalistic shawlette that is easy to wear and fun to knit. Its asymmetric shape and geometric motif give its visual interest. Its simple pattern plays well with hand-dyed or variegated yarn. This flexible design can be worked with as little as 70 g / 2.5 oz of fingering yarn and can be made as long as you wish. The inspiration for this design came while singing the nursery rythm “Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round” with my toddler. The geometric motif is formed by temporal snapshots of a huge rolling wheel. Finished Size A shawlette with a total of 5 motifs measures 177.5 cm / 70″ in length and 30.5 cm / 12″ in width. See Schematic for additional measurements. MATERIALS YARN Fingering weight Shown here: Wollmeise “Pure” 100% Merino Superwash (526 m/575 yds, 150 g/5.3 oz skein, color Nazar Boncugu): 1 skein Sections A-F plus the first Motif section requires 245 m / 268 yds, each additional motif requires 70 m / 77 yds. A shawlette with a total of 5 motifs requires 525 m / 575 ydsAllowance is already considered in the yardage requirement. If substituting yarn or using a different gauge, weigh yarn before and after working first Motif Section to determine yardage necessary for one repeat of Motif.
